happy birthday

I recently splurged and bought a few stamp sets that I had my eye on for a while, I managed to buy thme from Make the Day Special (very reasonably priced and it means no buying from the states and incurring those custom charges!).  One of these was Lawn Fawns alphabets, quinn's abc's.  Love this set but need to play more with it.  I love the way it's so easy to line up on my block as the letters are still in rectangles of polymer so they sit beside each other perfectly and the spacing looks great.  I stamped in Memento, coloured with copics and then added the glitter! Jobs a good un!

I thought I'd show you a close up so you can see the glitter (i used stickles)

Crafty Sentiments - For a Child

How are you at creating children's cards? I'm definitely getting better as I seem to be having quite a bit of practice, that's what 3 kids with a hectic social life do for your cardmaking! Anyway I managed to mix this week's Crafty Sentiments challenge into a party card, the girls needed another card for yet another party.

This was one of those quickie cards, I created this card bylaying out my own sentiment and images online.  I separated  Tobey Heart Balloon - digi  (well I had 2 images and I cropped the right bits!) and then joined them back together by drawing more string then I printed and coloured with my copics, cut it to size and popped on a green card base (it's pearlescent but you can't see that in the pic!)

  • Stamps - Tobey Heart Balloon
  • Copics - E50,51,54,57   G63,67  R24,27,29  Y21,23 YR23
  • Pearlescent geen card
**ETA - only just realised this hasn't worked! Typical! Scheduling normally works!**

A Christmas Recipe

Evening all, I have finally sorted out my craft desk and it inspired me to craft so I have quite a few cards to share with you (but I'll try and space them out a bit!)  I was looking at Sparkle Creations Christmas Card Challenge and actually made the time to have a go. It was a recipe of 3 designer papers, 2 stamps and button/ribbon - oh no! just realised I haven't put buttons or ribbons on - let's hope they forgive me! I have put 3 dp's on (the third is on the wreath's bow).  I used TSG's Holly Jolly and coloured with my copics and then finished off with an Elzybells sentiment, which by the way only works through sheer dumb luck.  I went to stamp the sentiment and it fell off my block, I was majorly lucky it fell in the right place!!

Crafty Sentiments - Use a digi

This weeks challenge over at Crafty Sentiments is to use a digi, so I have! But I kind of decided I wanted to add more to MoMo, I decided I wanted to make it a birthday card and added some of the Patches elements, unfortunately I have only just realised that Patches isn't a digi (i just happen to have him in digi form!) but you could easily use any balloons or pressies!

Don't forget to bob on over and check out the girls amazing creations.

Sparkle Creations challenge

Sparkle creations challenge this week is a colour challenge, these aren't quite my colours but I had recently seen someone use the Bargello technique and it kind of inspired me.  I didn't quite follow it as my scraps weren't quite the shape I wanted so I ended up doing more of a mosaic background. I glued all the bits to thin copy paper then cut out with my square nesties before cutting a black square mount.

I coloured in a Sparkle Creations Shopping Emily with my copics before cutting her out. The pinks are the RV 21,23,25,29 group.  I originally bought the 23 and 25 and hated the colour combo but I took a risk and bought the other two and I'm really pleased I did as I love this colour combo now.

Sorry about the photo, my skills seem to be a little lacking in that department at the moment! Don't tell my hubby, I just hope he doesn't read my blog the moment, he would be ashamed (his photos are amazing!check him out here)

Party central

For those of you that don't know I have three gorgeous children (well, gorgeous when they're asleep!) I have twin girls that have just turned 6 and little boy who has just turned 4.  Their birthdays are only 5 days apart so we have a very busy birthday week (and the run up to it can be a tad stressful!) We decided, in our stupidity, to do a bigish party for Drew and the girls were having a party at home.  Having been totally oblivious to prices of things like bouncy castles and entertainers I decided to Drew's myself, I mean how hard could it be? Anyway, I did it. We had 20 or so children who played in a big hall, we had pass the parcel (I had loads of games mentally prepared but it turned out I didn't need them!) and then food.  My biggest blessing was that my sister rang up the day before and asked if I needed any help, she is a star!!!!!

Anyway, the stress before that party was the prep, the food and the party favours (I went with a cellophane bag containing a pot of playdough with a cupcake on top) but also the cake.  All I can say is I hope you like it, modesty aside I was really pleased with the way it came out.

Bless him, he really struggled to blow his candles out!

Well that was on the Saturday then we had his birthday on the Wednesday, we had numerous family members come and visit us. Then on the next Saturday we had the girls party, this time a smaller group of children in our (small, small) house.  We decided to do a build a bear party, so basically the kids stuffed their own bear, named their bear and added a wish heart inside it and then they made a necklace for their bear. That just left enough time for a load of party games and food (mercifully we could eat outside as the weather was perfect - almost a heatwave!)  Here's few photos of the party and of course their cakes!

Thanks for coping with this long a post! And thank you for visiting despite my long absence!

Hugs,
Heather

Crafty Sentiments - Pastel colours

I know I've been a bad blogger recently, sorry. Events here have meant I needed to spend more time with my family (numerous birthdays and therefore birthday parties! I'll fill you in soon.)

But I'm back and I wanted to show off some of the new Crafty Sentiments images, the latest challenge over at the Crafty Sentiments challenge blog is to use pastel colours. I've used the Sweet Butterfly image which I coloured with my copics (I'm back, but nothing's changed!)  I created my own background with some Papermania stamps and Memento inks.  Lastly I added a sentiment and I cut out a little butterfly.
