Fairy Wishes

Hi all, from a very sunny UK.  I'm not a sun person, I'm grateful for the sun but I don't want to feel this hot! Oh well, I'm so obviously British. I moan about the weather, it's so rarely just right! lol.  Anyway ...

I just adore this DP - it's from a Smirk paper pack that my DH bought me.  Wasn't convinced to begin with but I love the cards I've made using it, including this one.

I took a leaf out of Kerry's book (especially this post) and used black card to edge my image and dp.  I wasn't quite sure how to add my sentiment, but decided to go up top with one of my retro flowers.  I used a DigiSparkle image from the Nature Fairies set, I tried to colour them with my Whispers markers but I wasn't feeling it so I went back to my trusty copics (what would I do without them?)

This card is for these challenges:

Pollycraft Monday - Summer blooms
Spoonful of Sugar - Cute and girly
Papertake - Say it with flowers
Fab n Funky - Make your own embellie
Flutter by Wednesday - Flowers + Butterfly, Fairy or Angel
Stamp Something - Celebrate
Crafty Catz - Petals and Pearls (edited - oops, just realised I've missed the deadline!)

Plane Green

Well this plane is very plain! *groan*  I guess it's just CAS but that just didn't sound the same!

My Uncle Jim's (my best friend's dad - but I still call him Uncle!) birthday is on Monday and I thought as he likes his planes, this image would be perfect.  I created it especially for him - I'll create the rest of the pack at some point and then it'll go online at DigiSparkle.

This card is for these challenges:
Creative cottage - One for the boys
Allsorts - birthdays
Sweet Stampin' - Personal
Copic Creations - Monochrome using Copics

My Brave Knight

I started off with a male theme (as there are quite a few challenges out there for masculine cards at the moment.) and decided I wanted to use my knight digi (this is kinda a sneek peak as it isn't yet in the DigiSparkle store).  I then used the DigiDoodles sketch and it followed from there.  You can probably guess the rest - coloured with ... copics, yes! Circle cut out using ... nesties, yes! What a surprise!

This card is for these challenges:
CAS-tastic - Birthday
Simon Says Stamp - Birthdays
Cute Card Thusday - Boys/Men
DigiDoodles - Sketch
Stamp something - Birthday
Stampin for the weekend - Male

OLW - Punctuation

Over at Simplicity Susan has challenged us to use punctuation in her One layer Wednesday Challenge.  I started off with the brackets and sentiment and I knew I wanted to do some sort of dot thing.  I got my ink daubers out and tried the yellow out on a piece of scratch paper but in doing it I found that my sponge dauber makes a brill circle. So I created a visual triangle of yellow circles. Voila, clean and simple (and one layer!)

This card is for these challenges:
Simplicity - One Layer Wednesday; Punctuation
The Pink Elephant - Yellow

Yummy ...

...Cake.

Another DigiSparkle image!  This is from the Sweets digistamp set.  I was so inspired by this card made by Debs for the latest C.R.A.F.T. challenge - cake.  I coloured the cake and stand with copics (would have used a different shade of pink if it had arrived before I coloured this image!) I used my nesties to cut out the white card scallop and then used some Smirk papers.  Hand wrote the sentiment (again, I know!) and cut out the little cupcake from the DP.

This card is for these challenges:
Diva Coffe Break - Sketch
The Creative Cottage - Food and/or drink
Digi Tuesday - Food or drink
CRAFT challenge - cake

Summer With Love

Summer is on the way, well some days it is - I wish the weather would make up it's mind! Oh well, typical British weather!  Anyway this little fairy hiding in amongst the flowers and butterflies definitely makes me think of summer.

I made this little card with one of my latest DigiSparkle releases, She's part of the Nature Fairies digistamp set.  I cut out the card using one of my new nesties (large scallop square - I think!) and sponged the background while the card and nestie were still attached (hence the white border) Then I coloured her with my latest copic aquisitions and I hand wrote the sentiment (yes there does seem to be a trend of this on my blog!)

She is also my creation over at The special 50/50 - this is a group where resident digistamp creators (like me!) share a monthly stamp.  Each crafter pays a yearly fee and then receives a stack load of digistamps each month.  The idea is they then create a card (or other craft item) upload it and at the end of the month we all vote for our favourite - the creator and the crafter of the winning card wins a prize.  You can also enter the challenge by buying one of the creators image of the month (buy it from their store then enter the competition.)

This card is also for these challenges:
Fab 'n' Funky -Fancy Edges
Little Red wagon - Pink and Green
Flutter by Wednesday - Butterfly, Fairy or Angel
Lilli of the Valley - Here comes the summer
Dare You to Digi - Anything Goes
Alphabet Challenge - B is for Butterflies
Pollycraft Monday - Here comes the sun

Colour inspiration

Kristina Werner is doing a colour inspiration challenge with a difference.  She wants us to upload photos that we would love to use as our inspiration.  This is a photo my DH took at our local National Trust gardens and I just love the different yet contrasting colours in this photo.

A cutey monster

Here is a little cutey who has, incidently, grown on me - dunno why I didn't like him to begin with.  He is one of my monsters from my monster pack from my DigiSparkle store.

I based this on this sketch from Magical Crafts, it took me ages to think this through, I kept repositioning everything and then couldn't think how to 'do' the three flowers.  Inspiration finally hit when I finally thought of using the greeting for the 'flowers' and then it all flowed from there!

I coloured this cutey with my copics and then painstakingly cut him out (I'm only just getting better at cutting out while leaving a white border -  I love the way it looks but takes me ages!) Paper is from a Forever Friends For Him pack, stars cut using my nesties and a punch (what else!) and I hand wrote the sentiment using a black gel pen.

Hope you like it!

This card is for these challenges:
Magical Crafts - Sketch
Pile it on - Boyish colours
Digi Doodles - Anything goes
Spohisticat - Card for a child
Oh, Alice! - Card for a child
One stitch at a time - Card for a child

Wise Owl Journaling Jar

This is a project I did a while ago (but haven't yet blogged about!). I did it for my Mother-in-law's birthday.  I got the idea from this post by Patter Cross.  I used an old perfume tin (I knew it would come in use!) and covered the front of a notepad. I used brown paper (from a pack I bought from Ikea), some Smirk paper and my images are these owls from DigiSparkle coloured with my copics.  I also added some pink grosgrain ribbon (a bargain from a market) and I made a flat bow ribbon using Julie's method. There are 52 questions in the jar (one for each week of the year) and I tried to make them personal to Mum.

Patter put a little message on her jars, sort of instructions so I decided to include a message for Mum and created this little poem:

Mum, this little jar and journal,
Celebrates someone dear.
Just follow this simple plan,
For a journal in a year.

Just pull out one question,
Once a week will do.
Then read, remember, write.
This journal’s all about you.

Don’t worry about the grammar
I’m sure it will enthral,
Just tell YOUR story and remember
You are loved by us all.

This project fits into these challenges:
Daisy Doodles - Anything but a card
The Pink Elephant - Mummy I Love you
Project Tuesday - Altered tin
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Animals
Stamptacular - Mums
