Birthday Book

I wanted to do this for this Project Tuesday Birthday Book Challenge, but I missed the date (by quite a lot - I need to be more organised!) I created this book as a traditional sewn book, I printed off the pages and trimmed them before sewing them into the black card. I then decorated the front with these free digipapers and a DigiSparkle image.

New Technique

I had a go at a technique I've seen around, using a nestie to emoss a frame. I'm not convinced, I suspect a square or rectangle would work better but I'm yet to buy those (they're on my list!)

Bible quotes

I really like this stamp set at DigiSparkle so consequently here's another card using it! Love the red and black mix, seems to work quite well so I used it again, along with my nesties which I am definitely addicted to! Card - Black card from WHS
Image - Bible sentiments from DigiSparkle
Others - Red paper from ikea, papermania clear birthday stamps, dew drop moonlight white ink, heart paper punch, nesties and big shot

This is another card using the Be still stamp I think I prefer this card but I was trying to do it another way as I love the stamp. I really should remember that if I like a card I can repeat it!

Can you spot a theme?

Labels again! I know but once I start on something I just keep going. Not convinced by this - should have used a more subtle pink on the wording! Oh well, we live and learn!

Sentiment - Happy birthday stamp (can't remember who by!)

Present Scrapling

Yes another scrapling! Sorry about the poor photo. This really was a 1 minute jobby! The thing that took the longest was deciding which present to put on the bottom!

I sometimes make up a load of these presents, cupcakes at a go and then can just grab one for a card (athough I often waste time deciding on which colours go, so it's often just as easy to make it at the time with the co-ordinating paper!)

Uncle's birthday

I somehow arrived at Wednesday last week without really knowing where the week had gone. This wasn't great as it meant I had to pack as we were going awaythe next day, make sure I had photographed all the cards I wanted to blog this week and then I suddenly realised it was my Uncle's birthday on Saturday! So this is my rush job card (why I hadn't got any in my collection that were suitable I don't know!)

I used a Paddington bear I had stamped, coloured and cut out ready (thank goodness!), so all I had to do was add the blue oval and the sentiment. Why is it that when you're in a rush things just don't seem to come together! Anyway, I finally added 'Uncle' with Papermania alphabet and handwrote the rest - not great but it was appreciated (I spoke to them yesterday!)

Card: CardTonic tall card blank

Sentiment: Papermania alphabet and blue ink and handwritten with blue gel pen

Champagne celebation

I recently did a wedding card (here) and while I was doing this I had a go at using the digistamp champagne glasses from DigiSparkle, they didn't look right for the wedding card but I decided to go on and make them into a card anyway. I really like them and although it seems odd not to colour the black and white seems to work, I suppose it's quite clean and simple!

Tractor

How hard is it to do male or boy cards? I've been challenging myself recently to do more of these, if only to have some in my collection ready!

I do like this tractor stamp from DigiSparkle but have left it sitting in a box fully coloured just not knowing how to use it! I finally had an idea and although it hasn't come out quite as I wanted I still like the thoery of putting it on a wheel.

See what you think:

She's passed ...

She's passed, my little sister has passed her driving test! Crumbs, does that make me feel old! She passed second time, so I had this ready for her first test (and didn't need it!) and unfortunatley I forgot to bring it with me and am now on holiday! Oh well, have shown her the picture and I guess it's the thought that counts. So congrats little sis, hope you get to use the car now and then!

I created this with one of the DigiSparkle car stamps (the Mini Cooper)and put it on top of a google map of her local area.

Card - silver card blank
Stamp - Mini Cooper from DigiSparkle (kindly coloured on the computer by my DH)
Paper - google map, pink ikea paper and papermania rose tones

Be still

I'm really liking the black base card, I like that it really sets the red off. This is one of the new DigiSparkle digistamps designed by yours truly. Bible verses can be easy to do but I like it when they become the focal point for the card. I like this verse as it is so reflective, perfect for a notelet.

Sentiment - Bible Sentiments from DigiSparkle

Cupcake bookmark

As promised here's another bookmark! Quite like the background stamping on this, it feels quite subtle and yes I used an address label again! I urned this one into a bookmark by adding magnets to the bottom (just a leftover magnet from a manetic notepad set). Stamps: cupcake and best wishes sentiment from papermania clear birthday set.
Die cuts: Sizzlets cupcake, nesties
Card from my stash, rose ink and stazon black ink

Bookmark Scraplings

I seem to have been really inspired recently on a scrapling/bookmark theme. Both Bee Crafty and Splitcoast stampers have had scrapling/bookmark challenges and I feels a bit like once I started I couldn't stop (so expect a few more scraplings in later posts!)

I really enjoyed doing these as I tried out a few new techniques. I liked the idea of using address labels that I found at Hero Arts but I thought I would alter them a bit by embossing them. I liked this so I had a go at inking up the cuttlebug embossing folder before embossing, I like the effect but I need to carry on experimenting - I want to try some different inks. I then added these new stamps from Digisparkle they are from the new Wines and spirits selection - really funky!

Anyway these bookmarks/scraplings are for the following challenges:
Bee Crafty - Bookmark using a digi image
Splitcoast stampers Limited supplies LSC236 - scrapling
Card from my stash (pink and deep purple)
Images - from Wines and spirits selection at DigiSparkle
Address labels, cuttlebug Divine swirls embossing folder, big shot, rose ink, gel pens, pink and black ribbon that I bought very cheaply from the market!

Blog Candy

Michelle is generosly offerening an amazing amount of blog candy here. I love her blog, I look forward to reading her blog as her cards are always amazing!

Bible Quotes

Good morning, I actually got a lie-in this morning, 7am rather than 6.30am!!! (little things please little minds!) I thought I'd get this done while my DH is still in bed (he gets the major lie-in!!)

I've got several things going on this weekend that needed cards and as I'm really pleased with how they turned out I thought I'd share them with you. This first one is for a Dedication I've got on Sunday morning. I used a bible quote that I've arranged (I like it so much that I'll try and clean it up and turn it into a digistamp for DigiSparkle)

Craft tonic pastel blue card blank
Handmade bible quote (Psalm 119:113)
Stamp: baby feet (I think this was papermania) and Dew Drop moonlight white ink
Other: Ikea navy blue paper, pastel blue ribbon, nesties, bigshot

This next one is for a young girl at church who is leaving to go to university and we wanted to say thanks for everything she has done at church. Again I di another bible quote and layered up the frame and flowers.

Tesco white card blank
Papermania pink tones paper
Homemade bible quote (Jeremiah 29:11)
Other: Nesties, big shot, papermania flowers and small brads, black ink

A yellow robot

My DH thinks all my cards have to include nesties and circle ones at that, it's not quite true but this another circle nestie one! Hopefully with a little more of a masculine theme - I think the yellow works! This is one of my favourite stamps from DigiSparkle, Robbie robot (although my girls call him Walle!) I did this with the Sweet sketch Wednesday in mind.

Other: Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder, gold glitter gel pen, and of course nesties and big shot!

A touch of ... well a touch!

An iPod touch that is! This is yet another DigiSparkle stamp, this time from the Toys for the Boys range. This is the iPod touch from the iPod range (4 ipod digistamps for just 99p - can't be bad!) I think I've gone for a retro feel with all these reds, black and greys (was that an 80's colour scheme? remember a lot of those colours in my brother's room!) Love the stamp (and fairly pleased with my colouring) the layout isn't quite right but I'm struggling to identify why!

A touch of pink

Those who know me well will tell you I'm not a pink person, so you can imagine the horror of having twin girls - absoloutely everything I was given was pink! Well, I seem to have mellowed over the years hence why this amount of pink doesn't horrify me anymore! This is one of the new stamps from DigiSparkle, this is Jane. I think she's really cute! And if you like Jane you must meet Peter!

Horse

Horse is one of the new digistamps from DigiSparkle. And this horse is for a couple of challenges. The challenge theme at Pollycraft is animals and this sketch is for Friday Sketchers. I'm not sure whether I like it or not, I guess it's just not my usual style of card!Image: Horse from DigiSparkle

Boys for the Toys - imac G4

This is for my husband's boss, as with all in the office they like their technology and apparently this computer is iconic design! Don't see it myself but hopefully this image will appeal to him. This is one of the new images from DigiSparkle, we're trying to get more 'Toys for the Boys' stamps - keep an eye out for these!

A baby giraffe

A neighbour has just had her first baby this week and I just couldn't resist using the new Animal faces digistamps from DigiSparkle, the only problem was deciding on which animal to use. I eventually settled on the giraffe (why a giraffe says baby I don't know, but it works!) cut it out with my oval nesties, glued on a blue gingham digipaper (free from somewhere!) and finished it with a ribbon (again, I seem to be really getting into ribbons at the moment!). It seems like a really simple baby card, but I like it!

Oh, and this is for the Bee Crafty challenge which is to use digipapers.

Pile on the fairies

This is a card that is piling on the challenges! I really like this Woodware fairy rubber stamp but have always used it in the same way - a basic stamp! I got the idea of using part of the stamp from this Clean and Simple card and then I've just linked it in with several challenges.

So here is my pile:

Pile it on : Round - My fairy spots are round!
Papertake Weekly: Angels or Fairies
A Spoonful of sugar : Distressing - I distressed the edges of all my paper and my fairy spots
Lord have Mercy : Sketch challenge

And here is my card:

Christmas Hedgie

I love this Chrsitmas Pnny Black hedgie. As I seem to have been thinking clean and simple recently I tried to make this hedgie simple, and I think I've made it simple. The thing I like most about this card is the glitter, I've coloured the stocking and presents with glitter gel pens and the white has stickles on.

I've managed to squeeze 2 challengs into this card:

Penny Black Saturday Challenge: Christmas
Christmas Stampin: Green, Red and silver or gold.

First birthday

It's my nephew's first birthday this weekend and I needed a card quickly as I had to get it in the post (why do these dates always spring up on us?) I had already coloured a Jolly Nation toddler so I used that and then added his name.

However, this card just didn't want to happen. I couldn't seem to line the oval up with the scalloped oval so after about 8 attempts I decided to use tacky glue and in squeezing the tube it exploded all over my work luckily the image escaped! So, here is my card, glue free!

I decided this fitted into the Anything baby goes at Stampin' for the Weekend.

Card blank - white square
Image - Jolly nation coloured with Derwent Coloursoft and sansador
Name - Papermania acrylic stamps
Other - nesties, silver gel pen
