The Lady in Red ...

Okay, so she's not dancing but she's definitely in red and boy was that hard to achieve!  I hate doing colouring big areas in red, I have to be so careful it doesn't bleed!  I did this primarily for Die cut dreams Christmas challenge, yes I know it's not hat Christmassy, I'm going for subtlety!  The inside will have the real Christmas message!

I've started using a new technique on images like this, I've used my Derwent Coloursoft crayons and sansador oil to blend them out in order to create this 'glow'.  I like it so I guess it will keep appearing on my images!

Crafty Sentiments Challenge - Lace

Crafty Sentiments Challenge this week is Lace - check it out here.

Ok, I'm not great with lace, it's just not me! So I didn't have anything that would work so I nipped (well I walked with the kids so it wasn't nippy!) to our local craft shop.  Although I spent quite a few pennies they didn't really have anything lace  I finally found these Papermania decorative felt embellishments and I figured I could make it work, I'll let you decide if it does!

I would like to say a big thank you to my hubby, if you've looked at any of my recent posts you will notice the poor photography skills  however, he photographed this card - as you can tell! Thank you, sweetheart.

Anyway, here's my card with a Crafty Sentiments Snowman (available today!!)  Now pop on over and check out the amazing creations from the other dt members.

Here are the Christmas digi papers that will be avialable soon over at

I wanted to follow the CAS FTL #103, I used some Elzybells nativity stamps and edged it with mulberry paper (as I didn't have the right colour cardstock - I see another shopping trip in my future!)

Doves

This card is for the Get Sketchy challenge.  I used a dove punch, some Mind's Eye papers and a used my Copic Spica pen to handwrite the words around the edge.  I'm still trying to decide if this can be a Christmas card - what do you think?

Crafty Sentiments Sneak Peek

Hi all, this card started off with a Crafty Sentiments digi sneak peek.  Both the image (isn't he adorable) and papers are from Crafty Sentiments, there is a whole range of Christmas papers, I've only used 2 of them!  They will be released on August 22nd so remember to pop on over and check out the whole range.

I wanted to follow the CPS sketch and as per usual I coloured with my copics, cut with my nesties and this time I created a border around it using a black gel pen (it was to echo the dots of the paper, what a shame I din't do an outline in pencil first in order to get it perfectly straight!)

For these challenges:
CPS - Sketch
A Spoonful of Sugar - Christmas

OLW - Unexpected Colours

Ok, so this is a poor photo - please forgive me!  This is for Susan's one layer challenge over at Simplicity, using colours you wouldn't normally expect e.g. not green and red on a Christmas card. So this inspired me to use black and white, I wanted to use one of my new Elzybell nativity stamps and what you can't see is that Mary & Joseph are embossed in glitter.  I felt I needed something else so I put the swirls on.  I'm not convinced about the ink, it didn't leave a crisp enough image, oh well, I'll have to buy more ink!! Shopping my fav!

Crafty Sentiments Challenge - Olive, Light Blue & Tan

This weeks challenge is to use Olive, Light Blue & Tan (or as close as you can get!).  I really like the Crafty Sentiments digi's and adore this little Pat Mermaid, I just had to 'ink' her up.  I've coloured her with my copics but added a touch of glitter (well, Stickles) to her tail, doesn't the sparkle just make you want to smile!

Ok, I know you can't read the sentiment, it says Just Splashin' Around - put it down to my poor photography skills (hubby's 'suggestions' were him obviously trying not to correct me!)  Can you see the acetate - yes, I've used it again but I just had to use it to imply the water she would be swimming in (ok, I just like embossing acetate, but it's so pretty!). Yes, the circle is cut with my nesties and that cute little scallop is created using my Fiskars border punch.

Don't forget to hop on over to the Crafty Sentiments blog and check out what the other designers have created.

Christmas in August

I recently bought some Elzybells stamps, unfortunately Elzybells is closing down but it does mean they have a sale meaning I bought quite a lot!  So here is my first round of Elzybell cards (more to come, I'm sure!)  I've uploaded this to Splitcoast Stampers Christmas card challenge (means I'm another 5 up!)

Sailing Away

I seem to have quite a few birthdays in August, this one is for my Uncle.  He and my Aunt own their own boat and a remember, as a child, staying on it over the summer holidays (hence the summer links!)

This was created with a boat I've designed especially for this card (I'm sure it'll pop up on DigiSparkle over the next couple of months, once I've created a few other images to go with it!) I created all the elements on the card and then added a frame on top using dimensionals.  This card was created using ideas fom elsewhere, I got the idea for creating the waves using a circle punch from Wendy here at Paper Ink and Smiles.  I got the sun rays idea (which incidentally looks softer IRL) from Geri at Geri's cards here is her tutorial.

All in all I'm pleased with it (I just hopes it goes in the post ok!)

For these challenges:
Pink Elephant - Summer fun
Stamp with fun - Lilac/Blue
Cards for Men - Off on an adventure
Papertake - Blue
ABC Challenge - August
Secret Crafter - It's a man's world
Stamptacular - For the boys

Flowers

My Great Aunty's birthday is coming up and I wanted to something a bit different, I know she loves flowers so I went with the theme.  I used the Waltzing Mouse sketch as my base and used my retro flower punches, Leone Em leaf punch and then added a brad on the big flower and liquid pearls on the other flowers. I used my labels (eight?) nestie and stamped a Papermania sentiment.

I normally forget about the inside but I wanted to make that special so I used the same My minds eye paper I used for the flowers and cut a scalloped circle and then cut a white circle with my nesties, I stamped another Papermania sentiment and added another flower and leaves.  Hope she likes it!

This card is for these challenges:
Craftalicious - Make your own flowers

Crafty Sentiments Challenge

Here's my first Guest Designer post for Crafty Sentiments.  I'm so excited (and I've so gotta stop saying that!)

This card uses one of the new digi releases, Pat.  This week's challenge is to use chipboard or cardboard on your card - mine is that little chipboard frame which surrounds the sentiment.  I inked it up with the same ink I used for the background, Memento Angel Pink. Yes, as per usual I used my nesties, a square and scalloped square and of course coloured with my copics.

Hubby did his arty farty thing when photographing, he said the blue in the background reflected the water in the image!

Now go and check out the Design Teams amazing creations over at the Crafty Sentiments blog.

I'm so pleased this photographed properly, can you see the shininess of the circle?  I've no idea where I saw this but I loved the idea of embossing acetate, and I love the way it looks.  I added a Bugaboo stamp and a bit of gingham paper.  I cut the scalloped frame with my nesties and coloured that gorgeous little guy with my copics.

***EXCITING NEWS***

I've been chosen to be a Guest Designer for Crafty Sentiments !!!! Isn't that so cool!  I'm so excited!! So you'll have to keep an eye out for my first ever GD post. Can you tell I'm excited?

Have you seen their stamps?  They are gorgeous, why don't you pop on over and take a peek.  They also do  some digistamps as well which are good value for money.

A host of cards

Hi all, I thought I'd show off some cards that have, for one reason or another, been posted elsewhere.  I'm finally back to crafting (I've been away helping my Mum pack - she was moving but the minute I got home she phoned to say the sale had fallen through, some people really don't consider what they put other people through when they 'change their minds'! - Sorry, rant over)  I'm sure I'll be doing quite a few posts soon - I arrived home to a box of new Elzybells stamps (Unfortunately she is closing down but therefore has an amazing 50% sale of stamps and some of her card/buttons/ink is on sale too).  I'll also be back with some exciting news soon.

This first one uses a Bugaboo digistamp (pop on over, she has a friday freebie!) and was uploaded to the The Special 50/50 stamping group (You pay an annual fee that then allows you to download as many of the digistamps you want - these are created by resident crafters, you then use that image to enter the challenge)

This next one was uploaded over at Two Peas as part of Kristina Werners Year in Cards challenge - using repetition.

These are ones I uploaded at Splitcoast Stampers for their Christmas card Challenge

K Werner CASE

This is a card that I made after seeing a post by Kristina Werner but can I find the post, no! I've just spent 20mins searching for it!  Anyway, this uses my Hero arts polka dots background Cling stamp (yes, another one! And yes, I suspect this background will keep coming up!) I masked the area and stamped the letters using a papermania alphabet set and cut the Smirk paper using a scalloped border punch.

This card is for this challenge:

Top Tip Candy

Pop on over to Top Tip Tuesday to find out more about this cool new blog.

Smirk Spots

I'm really getting into this masking technique, of course it helps that I recently bought a background stamp that I want to use as creatively as possible!  This is a square card that I masked the inside square (with a post it note) then stamped the hero arts polka dots background stamp using angel pink memento ink.  I then stamped this Smirk image and coloured with copics.  The sentiment is a Papermania one.

This card is for these challenges:
SCS CAS - Polka dots
Karen's Doodles - Anything goes
